With Major League Baseball starting this week, Matt and Chris decided to make some World Series predictions for the 2012 season. Don’t worry, we didn’t make predictions for all the teams regular seasons — it’s bad enough to do that for the NFL’s 16-game seasons much less MLB’s season that is 10 times as long!
Talking before the show, both Chris & Matt mentioned that they had each thought about picking the Angels for the American League but didn’t want to. So who did Chris and Matt pick? You can always listen to Show 95 or you can keep reading!
During the show, Chris first revealed that the Detroit Tigers were his American League pick. Great pitching led by Justin Verlander and the addition of Prince Fielder to an already good line up make them a solid pick. Obviously, Matt agreed because his AL pick was also the Tigers, for pretty much the same reasons!
Matt revealed his National League pick, saying he was going against popular thought among sports analysts (always a good sign, Matt — always a good sign) and was going with the Phillies even thought they struggled a bit last year with pitching. The pitching is still good, despite the struggles and Chase Utley leads a great lineup of hitters. In a pretty awkward moment, Chris revealed that he also had picked the Phillies.
As luck would have it, the segment got worse (or funnier, depending on your perspective) as they both revealed their pick for the winner of the 2012 World Series champions of the world: The Detroit Tigers! (maybe these things should be planned out better!
Stay tuned to The Sideliners Show Tuesdays throughout the season. We might not cover MLB as closely as the NFL but when big stories happen we’ll be there to discuss them.
