Justin Bieber’s new single “Boyfriend” features creepy lyrics that make him sound like an over-possessive, jealous, freak. Add in Bieber channeling LL Cool J as he whisper/talks to his girl and you have a pretty high creep factor. Listen for yourself and see
But does Justin’s over-bearing threats make the it one of the creepiest songs of all time? We got to talking about the Top 5 Creepiest Songs in Show 95. See if you agree with our list!
Making the transition from G-rated Disney character Hannah Montana to that of the PG-13 (or worse) Miley Cyrus hasn’t been the smoothest. Take for example the upbeat, yet creepy “Fly on the Wall.” The only reason this one doesn’t rank higher is the catchy bubble-gum music.
Apparently stalker songs are big and American Idol Season 2 runner-up Clay Aiken’s “Invisible” certainly qualifies. Maybe the saddest part of this creep song is at the end of this clip when he admits that the object of his stalking doesn’t even know he exists.
The only non-stalker song on the countdown is one that might be more creepier than a stalker. In an attempt to get closer to his love interest, Bon Jovi asks “If I Was Your Mother” — a question I know always gets the ladies attention! Sorry Jon, but I’m not sure tucking them in will make them want you more!
Another stalker song comes in at number two with the 80s classic “Every Breath You Take” from The Police. Again, the upbeat, catchy tune helps keep this from going number one, as does the over-exposure of the song in lots of romantic comedies. But it also gets creepy points for being remade for the past-on rapper Notorious B.I.G.
Where to start on number one? There is no shortage of creep-factor on Sarah McLachlan’s haunting “Possession.” The music sets the mood and the lyrics that tell a story of a stalker-turned-attacker are some of the most disturbing I can think of. But what puts Possession over the top is that it is inspired by actual letters McLachlan received. Her stalker later sued her for using his letters to write the song but committed suicide before the case went to trial. Like I said, the creepiest!
